After having been a substitute teacher on my off days in college, I had an interest in serving in the local school board. I decided to run for election in 1992 and won a seat on the five member school board for a three year term.
After returning from Georgia and building a home in Ninety Six, I decided to run again for the Ninety Six School board in 2007. There were two three year term seats up and another one year term up due to the resignation of a current board member. I chose to run for one of the two three year terms and there were nine candidates running for two spots. I was fortunate enough to win one of the two spots that year.
